YouTube Transcript Copier

The YouTube Transcript Copier Snap is a handy tool designed to extract the transcript of the YouTube video you're currently watching and copy it to your clipboard. This is particularly useful when you need to quote something from the video or prefer to read through the content at a later time.

How it works

  1. Navigate to a YouTube Video: Ensure you are on a YouTube video page. The Snap only works on pages with a valid video URL.

  2. Identify the Video ID: The Snap checks the URL to find the video ID, ensuring it's a valid YouTube video page.

  3. Locate the Transcript Button: It searches for the "Show transcript" button using various selectors to accommodate different YouTube layouts.

  4. Open the Transcript: Once the button is found, it clicks to open the transcript panel.

  5. Extract the Transcript: The Snap collects all the text segments from the transcript.

  6. Copy to Clipboard: Finally, it compiles the transcript text and copies it to your clipboard, notifying you with an alert.
